I write today to express deep concern about anti-competitive and anti-consumer actions
being taken by airlines that choose to deny consumers the opportunity to make informed
purchasing decisions. The Department of Transportation (DOT) began reviewing this issue last
year as part of an effort to identify specific actions to alleviate costly burdens on competition and
improve consumer access to information, which promotes confidence in marketplace
participation. This is a task that I hope the DOT will continue under your leadership.
